"The Great Dictator" Speech (1941)

The speech from "The Great Dictator" is a speech that describes how the world should be filled with equality. Human beings “all want to help another” and that we all “live by each other’s happiness- not by each other’s misery.” The speech shows how humans beings should all treat each other with fairness. The 1920’s was a time where racism continued to grow in the United States. Charlie Chaplin, dressed as a dictator, addresses this issue of inequality by incorporating this speech into his film that many people saw throughout the nation. The speech was powerful and influential. Charlie Chaplin was able to create many exciting films that also addressed real problems such as inequality.
